Mitchell Middaugh

My favorite subject matter this year has been the cardboard project. This is my favorite because it was the project I received the best grade on this year. Modern artists inspire me because of their independent style and personal expression. I have felt a better connection to 2D art mainly because for me it is much easier to complete and there aren't a bunch of supplies. My strengths this year were shading and the cardboard project.
WORD LIST
- Integrity -Perseverance - Creative
When making decisions on a project I take into consideration what the teacher expects from me and what's expected for the project.  I select materials based on the theme I am trying to convey. I select the tools needed after I decide what techniques i will use. Themes i use usually are influenced by the message of the project and artwork.

Art has been an important figure throughout my life but usually in the musically inclined side. Ive always been interested in modern and psychedelic paintings but never have been good at creating them myself. Before this year my skills and knowledge of art wasnt very good. Now i have a better appreciation and understanding of the subject and what is involved in art. I think the most challenging part of being an artist is being judged and trying to shy away from the norm. I think my projects went pretty well this year. i always gave my best effort but i'm not exactly picasso so they didn't look amazing. I don't believe we should be tested and graded on our artistic ability but rather our effort put into the project unlike we do now. I don't necessarily have a certain well known artist who influences me but i have a good friend whose art is amazing and has had some influence on me. My strengths this year in art have been shading and being creative but my weaknesses have been numerous things because i'm not exactly a great artist.

When it comes to art many things influence me and catch my attention. Modern art being a large competitor I enjoy the new ideas and usually simple designs. On the total opposite scale psychedelic art from the 60s era interests me because of how much depth and creativity it requires to make a psychedelic artwork. Everything including the vivid colors to the crazy designs influence me the heaviest.
